Experience The Burl:
First of all, I caught the bigger fish. Rani can “suck it”! I know that the viewing public is on her side and that’s cool. But I will fight this forever! Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic because we had such a fantastic evening out in the boat. Jerry Perry, brother of Dave & Earl Perry, took us out on the water for our little beta test with Shelby and her mother, Lorna. Clearly, they were ‘havin a time’ despite not catching the biggest fish like I did. Shut up Rani!
The fact is this kind of ‘on the water’ experience represents exactly what I want visitors to experience when they come to the Burl. Now unfortunately, when it comes to the almighty cod, it’s very seasonal nowadays and you can’t just go catch a fish anytime you want. But that’s okay. It’s worth the wait. Imagine if you could catch a cod and eat it the same day at the Manor. This is what we are striving to do.
Like most things in Burlington, when it comes to outdoor activities and having things to do, it’s already going on. In the summer, you can fish cod, trout, or salmon, pick berries, dig for mussels, or go hiking. And in the winter, you can go snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, skating, and the list goes on… And let’s not forget boil ups!
Whenever Peter Blackie and I are talking about the overall goals of the project, we always mention how we aren’t trying to invent something that doesn’t already exist. We are simply tapping into what’s already there… That’s the magic of Burlington, Green Bay.
